Run the day-to-day of KenHome Corporation. Own the operating calendar, project delivery, and the P&L that sits underneath it.
The role
KenHome is at the point where the quality of its operations determines the quality of its growth. We are bringing on a Chief Operating Officer to run the business day-to-day: project delivery, procurement, safety, quality, compliance, and the people systems that make them work.
You will report to the CEO, sit on the executive team, and be the internal decision-maker for anything below the strategic horizon. Your tenure will be judged on three numbers: on-time delivery, gross margin on closed projects, and employee retention at the PM level and above.
What you'll do
- Own the operating calendar — weekly ops reviews, monthly project-level P&L reviews, quarterly operating plan with the CEO and CFA.
- Accountable for on-time, on-budget delivery across the active project portfolio.
- Lead the PM function: hiring, coaching, performance management, and escalation of struggling projects.
- Oversee Procurement and Pre-Qualification — ensure the sub bench is always deeper than the pipeline requires.
- Chair the Safety and Quality committees; own the corrective-action system.
- Partner with Finance on bonding, insurance, and working-capital decisions at the corporate level.
- Represent KenHome with owners, architects, surety, and prime contractors on major pursuits.
- Drive systems investment — toolchain, ERP, and process — with measurable ROI.
- Build the succession plan for every key operational role.
What we're looking for
- 15+ years in institutional or federal construction, with at least 5 years as a Director of Operations, VP of Operations, or COO.
- Track record of running a portfolio of concurrent projects totaling $100M+ in annual revenue.
- Demonstrated ability to improve gross margin and on-time delivery metrics — we will ask you for specifics.
- Deep fluency with construction ERP (Procore, Sage 300 CRE, Viewpoint, or similar) and the data discipline required to run reviews off the numbers.
- Executive presence — you can run an OAC meeting on a $50M project and a board meeting in the same afternoon.
- Bachelor's degree; master's (MBA or MSCE) strongly preferred.
Nice to have
- Prior P&L ownership at an ENR Top-400 contractor.
- Federal contracting experience (SAM.gov active prime experience).
- Lean / Last Planner System / Integrated Project Delivery background.
Benefits
- Executive medical, dental, and vision (100% premium coverage for family)
- 401(k) with 4% company match plus discretionary profit sharing
- Unlimited PTO with a minimum 15-day take
- 12 weeks paid parental leave
- Equity participation / performance bonus based on role and tenure
- Company vehicle or transportation allowance
- Executive health program
- Relocation assistance
