Chief Financial Officer

Executive·Dallas, TX·Full-time·Executive·$220,000 – $340,000 · base; annual performance bonus + equity participation negotiable

Own KenHome's finance function — accounting, treasury, surety, capital planning, and the financial discipline that lets the business take on bigger work.

The role

KenHome is at a stage where the quality of its finance function determines the ceiling of the business. The surety program, the line of credit, the bonding capacity, the project-level reporting that keeps owners confident — these are the levers that let us pursue larger, higher-consequence work. We are hiring a Chief Financial Officer to own them.

You will report to the CEO, sit on the executive team alongside the COO, and be the person the board calls first when numbers need to be explained. Your tenure will be judged on three things: clean audits, growing bonding capacity, and a finance team the rest of the company actually trusts.

What you'll do

  • Own the full finance function: accounting, FP&A, treasury, tax, audit, and financial reporting.
  • Lead the annual audit with outside CPAs; deliver clean opinions on schedule.
  • Manage the surety relationship — aggregate and single-project capacity; grow it year over year.
  • Own banking and treasury: revolver, LOC, project-level financing, cash management.
  • Build and run the financial planning cycle — annual plan, quarterly reforecast, monthly board package.
  • Partner with the COO on project-level economics; be the voice of financial reality in go/no-go decisions.
  • Hire, develop, and retain the Controller, Staff Accountants, and any FP&A hires.
  • Represent KenHome with lenders, sureties, auditors, insurance brokers, and legal counsel on financial matters.
  • Advise the CEO and board on capital structure, M&A, joint ventures, and distribution policy.
  • Own all regulatory and compliance filings (federal tax, state tax, SAM.gov financial reps, DBE/HUB financial certifications where applicable).

What we're looking for

  • 15+ years of progressive finance leadership, with at least 5 years as a CFO, VP Finance, or Corporate Controller at a construction, engineering, or real-estate business.
  • Demonstrated ownership of the full close-to-audit cycle, surety relationships, and banking relationships.
  • Deep fluency with construction accounting — percentage-of-completion, WIP schedules, retainage, certified payroll, project-level P&L reporting.
  • Proven ability to grow bonding capacity and banking facilities alongside a growing revenue base.
  • Active CPA license strongly preferred; CFA charter or MBA in Finance also meaningful.
  • Executive presence — you can carry a board finance review and a lender negotiation in the same week.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a quantitative discipline; advanced degree preferred.

Nice to have

  • Prior CFO tenure at an ENR Top-400 contractor or a federal prime.
  • Experience through an M&A event (as buyer or seller).
  • Deep surety-industry relationships.
  • Experience with construction ERPs at the implementation level (Sage 300 CRE, Viewpoint Vista, Foundation, Procore Financials).

Benefits

  • Executive medical, dental, and vision (100% premium coverage for family)
  • 401(k) with 4% company match plus discretionary profit sharing
  • Unlimited PTO with a minimum 15-day take
  • 12 weeks paid parental leave
  • Equity participation / performance bonus based on role and tenure
  • Company vehicle or transportation allowance
  • Executive health program
  • Relocation assistance
